Facilitation

Facilitation is a complex process. And in a changing world it’s only getting more complex. Fortunately it’s the complexity of facilitating that inspires the way we work.

If you’ve ever been in a meeting that drifted off topic or seemed to go on forever – yet still failed to result in clear actions – you know all too well the challenges of effective facilitation.

Then step forward into the complexities of collaborations across multiple organisations with the challenges of onsite/online dynamics. No wonder you might be looking for the guidance of an expert facilitator.

We specialise in facilitating strategic planning to help teams navigate uncertainty with greater confidence and momentum. Teams require the visionary clarity of strategic focus – like guiding lights through the haze of an ever-changing environment. Enabling us to scan the horizon to adapt to the shifting conditions ahead. Evolving our approach while remaining focused on clear goals and the ultimate destination.

Facilitation Toolkit

Whether you’re looking for an expert facilitator or wanting to develop your own skills, our facilitation toolkit improves meeting results.

What I love most about Dave is his flexibility in adapting to the requirements of the culture of the organisation and the desired outcomes. He offers fresh perspectives and exposes you to global trends and innovations. Dave brings a huge array of tools and I have seen him take people through a journey where even people who don’t consider themselves to be creative or innovative start making connections and generating new ways of thinking to start doing things differently for their business.

The world of work has changed profoundly. As a result the future of work arrived early. Changing the way we now need to think, lead and work in the modern workplaces of today.

Divided into three parts, Futurework begins by exploring the series of revolutions that have reshaped society – leading us to the current autonomous revolution and the ecological shift ahead. Explaining how neuroscience discoveries now enable us to unlock greater potential within ourselves and those around us – evolving beyond fixed mindsets of the past by developing a growth Mindleap.

Followed by a Strategy Map for collaboratively and adaptively developing modern strategies to build a future ready organisation. Concluding with a ‘how-to’ Futurework Toolkit that will change and elevate the way you think, lead and work. With ten foundational Mindleap habits and an advanced series of leaps in thinking – complete with practical reflections, conversations and actions.

Active Facilitation

As a Futurist, I work as an active facilitator. A passive facilitator creates space for conversation while noting key thoughts, with the outcomes being whatever happens to emerge from the group. As an active facilitator I also create space for conversation, while at the same time inspiring and challenging groups forward with future-focused insights and frameworks.

For example, while a passive facilitator might be content with a group defining “Communication” as a strategic outcome, I’ll push this thought further asking questions like “Did you maybe already know communication was an issue before this meeting?” and “Do you think your competitors might also be aware communication is a critical success factor?”

As a result – with the objectives for the session far more clearly in focus – groups increase the impact of the strategies developed, whether for example it’s to “Communicate more responsively with predictive data” or to “Communicate with greater empathy to develop new markets.”

From working with tech startups through to complex inter-agency collaborations, the requirements of every facilitation assignment are unique. From one-off meetings to a series of strategy development sessions, we design and facilitate formats that make the most of everyone’s time invested.

Exploring possibilities. Clarifying direction. Making decisions.
